Big Society discussion paper from CDF
The Community Development Foundation has published a new discussion paper looking at the relationships between individual citizens, their communities and the state. The Big Society and the responsive state presents and considers the government’s policy initiatives concerning community empowerment, including reducing bureaucracy for voluntary and community organisations, the Community First Fund, social enterprises, National Citizen Service and Community Organisers the decentralisation of the public sector, including the general power of competence for local authorities, local referendums, planning reform, abolition of CAA and other inspection regimes, supporting social enterprises, mutuals and co-operatives, the Sustainable Communities Act and Total Place.
